ALBANY, N.Y. – Whiteman Osterman & Hanna, LLP, the largest, and one of the most well-respected law firms in the Capital Region, announced today that it is welcoming the attorneys and staff of McNamee Lochner P.C. to Whiteman Osterman & Hanna. The transaction will allow Whiteman Osterman & Hanna to offer enhanced services to its clients by adding a premier Family & Matrimonial Law Practice, and enhancing the firm’s Trusts & Estates, Corporate, Environmental and Litigation Groups.

“Today’s legal issues are more complex than ever before with most legal matters requiring expertise in multiple areas of the law as well as cutting-edge legal knowledge,” said Robert T. Schofield, co-managing partner at Whiteman Osterman & Hanna. “We made the decision to expand our expertise and add to our already substantial talent pool in order to better serve our clients.”

“Whiteman Osterman has had unprecedented success over the years and most importantly, it has done a lot of good in the community,” said April M. Dalbec, a partner in the Family and Matrimonial Law Group. “We’ve already been welcomed into the Whiteman Osterman & Hanna family with open arms and look forward to continuing the firm’s mission of obtaining the best results for our clients.”

Whiteman Osterman & Hanna utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach to address client needs, drawing upon the diverse legal backgrounds of its more than 85 attorneys. Now, by greatly increasing its depth of talent, the firm further builds upon its 45-year reputation of comprising some of the best practitioners in their respective fields.

Clients of Whiteman Osterman & Hanna and those of the attorneys moving from McNamee Lochner were informed of the move prior to this announcement.

“Despite the challenges of COVID-19, the partners of both firms realized that joining their practices made sense and decided to move forward together,” said John Henry, co-managing partner of Whiteman Osterman & Hanna. “Doing our due diligence on a transaction like this through electronic means, rather than in person, was certainly an interesting experience, but we really got to know one another, and we are excited to announce the addition of these talented professionals to our Partnership. As we all begin to ‘re-open’ in New York, we’re happy to have strengthened our position in the legal market and we’re hopeful that joining our practices will help us navigate the challenges that may still lie ahead.”

“The management teams at our two firms have worked very hard to make this happen. Both firms have a reputation as collegial, hard-working and results-driven so it is wonderful to see this come to fruition,” said Richard D. Cirincione, partner. “We’re joining a large firm with so many well-respected attorneys in so many different areas that I am sure our clients will see the benefits.”

“Since the first meeting that we had together, the values, the culture, the opportunities were all very exciting. From our perspective, there was never any doubt about moving forward as our values and culture aligned so well,” said Scott. A Barbour, partner. “The ultimate goal here is to get the best result for the client. There is no other firm based in Albany that can offer this broad base of support for clients. It is what makes Whiteman Osterman & Hanna different than any other law firm in the Capital Region.”

Together as a firm and individually, the attorneys and staff at Whiteman Osterman & Hanna have made a commitment to being good corporate citizens and have been leaders in providing corporate support and sponsorship to many local organizations. The firm was recently named by the Albany Business Review as one of the Capital Region’s “Best Places to Work.”

Recognizing that equality and justice are ideals inextricably linked to the legal profession and its obligations to society, Whiteman Osterman & Hanna has recently reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing its own diversity and supporting those in the community who continue to fight for social and legal equality.
