Parisian-inspired resort to open fall of 2019 and add 200 jobs to local economy

RHINEBECK, N.Y. – The Mirbeau Companies, leaders in experience-based resorts and day spas, announces the expansion of their award-winning Mirbeau Inn & Spa brand to the beautiful and historic Village of Rhinebeck, N.Y. Based on the Mirbeau philosophy of bringing balance to modern living, Mirbeau Inn & Spa Rhinebeck will feature 50 guest rooms (each with their own fireplace, walk-in shower and claw-foot soaking tub), a 12,000-square-foot Spa Mirbeau and Fitness Center, 3,000-square-feet of meeting and conference spaces and Mirbeau’s award-winning Bistro & Wine Bar. Opening is scheduled for fall of 2019.

Located just two miles from the Rhinecliff-Kingston Train Station servicing the Amtrak Northeast Corridor line and a short drive from New York City and Albany, the full service Mirbeau Resort is reminiscent of an old-world Parisian Hotel, yet with all the modern comforts that today’s travelers expect – without the need for a passport. The new Mirbeau Inn & Spa sits in the heart of the village on 2.8 acres that are surrounded by forests, offering a private, secluded setting in immediate walking distance to all of the unique shops and fun restaurants in Rhinebeck’s Village center.

“We are excited to expand our Mirbeau portfolio to this beautiful area of the Hudson Valley, providing our guests with a chance to pause and to escape to an exciting new Parisian-inspired destination, without the need to travel.” said Linda Dower, principal owner. “In this 24/7, totally connected world we live in, we find it even more important for our guests to have the opportunity re-balance in their lives through a restful, yet inspiring experience. We look forward to becoming an important part of the Rhinebeck Community and to serving the greater Hudson Valley market with our special style and amenities specifically designed to be enjoyed by local residents as well as visitors.”

“The new Mirbeau Inn & Spa Rhinebeck fills the need for a regional, short-stay getaway and resort experience that is easily accessible by automobile and also by train from the NYC Metro Area and Albany Capital District.” said Gary Dower, managing director. “We’re excited to invest in this wonderful community and bring in new visitors to support the unique shops, restaurants and attractions. And it will bring approximately 200 jobs to the Northern Dutchess County market.”

PC Construction is handling the build, which will bring an additional 100 construction jobs to the area.

Like the flagship property, Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Skaneateles, N.Y., and the four-year old Plymouth, Mass. resort with a New England flare, Mirbeau Inn & Spa Rhinebeck will offer esteemed accommodations, a world-class spa and a French-inspired American dining experience. The Mirbeau properties have each received a 4-Diamond rating from AAA and have been recognized on multiple national lists. Additionally, Spa Mirbeau, which follows a “Day Resort” concept, opened last fall in Albany, N.Y. In the brand’s distinct signature style, Mirbeau Inn & Spa Rhinebeck will closely follow suit, drawing inspiration from the introspective character and simple elegance found in the paintings of renowned French Impressionist Claude Monet.

The Spa Mirbeau and Fitness Center at Mirbeau Inn & Spa Rhinebeck will serve overnight guests and day spa customers alike. An array of treatments and services will be available, along with a resting area with a mediation water feature, an outdoor aqua terrace with oversized hot plunge pool, eucalyptus-infused steam rooms and Himalayan salt saunas, fitness studios, weight room and retail boutique. The Bistro & Wine Bar will showcase Mirbeau signature dishes as well as unique offerings with ingredients incorporated from the Hudson Valley.

“The Hudson Valley and Dutchess County area is a growing metropolis and must-see destination, steeped in history. It offers sweeping views of the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River, as well as hiking trails, vineyards, museums, shopping, year-round, outdoor activities, flourishing food scene and more,” said Mary Kay Vrba, president & CEO, Dutchess Tourism. “Mirbeau Inn & Spa Rhinebeck will be a welcome addition to the travel and tourism industry here in our region”

M&T Bank is providing the Construction Financing for the project. “Across upstate New York and especially in the Hudson Valley, the tourism industry is driving economic growth, and a major force behind it has been inspired entrepreneurs, such as Gary and Linda Dower and their team at Mirbeau.” said Mark Stellwag, M&T Bank regional president for the Hudson Valley and Albany region. “We’re thrilled to be a part of this exciting project.”
