LATHAM, N.Y. – Fresenius Kidney Care, the dialysis division of Fresenius Medical Care North America and the nation’s leading network of dialysis facilities, has opened its newest dialysis clinic located at 30 Century Hill Drive in Latham. This is Fresenius Kidney Care’s ninth kidney treatment clinic in the Capital Region, and expands on the providers’ patient-centric approach to care.

This opening was marked with a patient appreciation event that was held at the 7,000 square-foot outpatient clinic. The facility is centrally located in the North Colonie area in the heart of the Capital District. It will have the capacity to treat up to 72 in-center patients each week, enabling Fresenius Kidney Care’s local team of expert medical professionals to better serve Albany County’s growing population of dialysis patients.

In the words of Joseph Roglieri, medical director for the facility and head of nephrology for Samaritan Hospital,  “This is an important day for the residents of Albany, southern Saratoga and Rensselear counties. Options and individualized care are factors important to our patients. The addition of this facility will allow us to continue to tailor the treatment support options for our patients.”

“We are committed to providing patients with education that allow them flexiblity in their treatment options,” said Lane McCarthy, regional vice president, Fresenius Kidney Care. “Through our patient support programs and collaborative approach, we are setting the standard for the dialysis community and promoting an environment of care that allows our patients to thrive.”

“I applaud Fresenius Kidney Care for opening their newest state of the art dialysis clinic here in Latham,” said Senator Neil Breslin. “The numerous treatment options and increased access to high quality care will greatly benefit individuals and their families.”

“I welcome Fresenius Kidney Care to Latham and appreciate their commitment to enhancing the dialysis experience for patients,” said Assemblymember Phil Steck, “The treatment options that will be readily available to this community through their programs, including in-center and at-home dialysis, will ensure that those living with kidney disease have access to the best quality medical care.”

“Fresenius Kidney Care has consistently provided Capital Region residents with the high-quality and personalized healthcare that they deserve and I am thrilled they are adding another convenient, state-of-the-art facility right here in Albany County,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. “These dedicated and knowledgeable professionals are helping more and more patients find the freedom and independence of at-home treatments – well above the national average – raising the bar for other providers in the region and throughout the state.”

“With the opening of the new Fresenius Kidney Care clinic at 30 Century Hill Drive in Latham, residents in North Colonie and neighboring communities will have enhanced access to life-saving dialysis treatment options,” said Colonie Town Supervisor Paula A. Mahan. “We are proud Fresenius chose to open its new clinic in our Town and are happy to welcome them to Colonie.”

One in seven adults will develop chronic kidney disease, with many not detecting the condition until they have lost more than 90 percent of their kidney function. More than 660,000 Americans live with ESRD, or kidney failure, which requires either a transplant or dialysis to remove waste from the blood, maintain safe levels of potassium and sodium and control blood pressure. Currently, 468,000 people in the U.S. depend on dialysis as a life-sustaining treatment.
