Building Excitement: Crossgates and MVP Health Care Present the LEGO® Americana Roadshow

ALBANY, NY – Some of America’s most famous landmarks are temporarily moving to Crossgates – or at least, their LEGO replicas are. The LEGO Americana Roadshow, presented by MVP Health Care, is a free traveling roadshow stopping at Crossgates on February 9-24, 2019, marking its first Upstate New York appearance for the 17-day interactive exhibit.

The all-ages event will be open to the public, taking place throughout the upper level and lower level of the mall, with a LEGO Play Area, from 10:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. Anchoring the festivities are ten large-scale replicas of iconic American buildings, including The White House, U.S. Capitol, The Statue of Liberty, The Liberty Bell, and The Lincoln Memorial.

Additional show activities include:

  • LEGO Brickscapes will be placed throughout Crossgates and will feature an intricate level of detail and creativity in these six themed landscapes, such as Mount Rushmore and DUPLO Castle. A Brickscape will also be placed in the lobby of the Tru & Homewood Suites by Hilton at Crossgates. Guests will receive a Statue of Liberty Make-&-Take kit while supplies last.
  • A LEGO Play Area, presented by MVP Health Care, where people of all ages can build whatever their heart desires will be located on the lower level of the mall near Lord & Taylor.
  • Follow the Map Find the Model activity where attendees will receive maps which guide them to different display locations to answer questions. Participants will receive a free LEGO Americana collective card pack (while supplies last) when turned into the LEGO Store located on the lower level across from H&M.

“We are bringing a piece of Americana to Crossgates – except these beloved structures are built by LEGO Master Builders over thousands of hours using more than half a million standard LEGO bricks,” said Michael Gately, general manager of Crossgates. “The show is a fun way for families to learn about and admire our country’s historical landmarks, while also getting to roll up their sleeves and make their own creations.”

“MVP Health Care is proud to sponsor The LEGO Americana Roadshow as it makes its first visit to the Capital Region. MVP will be at Crossgates each day of the roadshow with contests, giveaways, and much more. We’re happy to be a part of this fun, action-packed experience for families,” said Ted Herman, MVP’s senior leader of marketing and communications.

Clifton Park, N.Y. based exhibit design, fabrication and trade show management provider Creatacor has had a long-standing partnership with LEGO Systems, Inc. and has been responsible for installing and managing the LEGO Americana Roadshow experience across the country for the past four years.

“We’re thrilled to bring the touring exhibit home to our area. There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes before it’s presented to the public to create a unique, memorable experience,” said Andrew Little, events and special projects manager, Creatacor.

Families with special needs can experience the LEGO Americana Roadshow in advance of the public opening on both Wednesdays (Feb. 13 and 20) from 9am-10am on the lower level by Lord & Taylor. This sensory-friendly event allows families and their children with special needs to experience the LEGO display in a comforting environment prior to mall hours.

Additionally, the all new Homewood Suites by Hilton at Crossgates is offering a staycation special package for local and out-of-town guests which includes an overnight stay, a $25 LEGO store gift card, $10 off $20 voucher for Johnny Rockets, Crossgates swag bag, Stay & Save savings pass with exclusive offers of discounts and savings at various Crossgates merchants AND a commemorative Lewis the Duck LEGO set.
