Baker Public Relations offers an internship program for high school and college students each semester to mentor young professionalsEven though this year has been quite unpredictable for higher education, we still have the capability to teach the next generation of public relations specialists. 

Therefore, meet our virtual summer interns: 

Say hey to Tanner! Tanner is heading to UAlbany in August to study for his master’s degree in Health Communication. He received his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Communication Studies at SUNY Oneonta. 

Q: Where did you grow up? 
A: Altamont, N.Y. 

Q: Why are you pursuing communications/public relations/marketing? 
A: I really enjoy the field of public relations. I have always loved making graphics online using tools like Canva and InDesign. I also greatly enjoy working with audio and video. I love getting to speak with others and promote the messages of various organizations. Social media is a passion of mine as well, and I am on it daily, mostly Facebook and Snapchat. 

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Pizza. 

Q: What do you like to do for fun? 
A: I enjoy playing video games, watching Netflix, swimming, kayaking, and piloting my Phantom drone.  

Q: What’s one thing you want us to know about you?
A: I got to meet the Blue Man Group and was a part of one of their acts. 

 


 

Say hey to Olivia! Olivia is an Economics major and a Management minor at Clark University in Worcester, MA. 

Q: Where did you grow up? 
A: I grew up in Austin, Texas before moving to Saratoga Springs, NY in high school. 

Q: Why are you pursuing communications/public relations/marketing? 
A: I am pursuing public relations and marketing because it combines the problem-solving and analytical thinking I have developed through my studies with my creativity. Additionally, I am interested in how PR and marketing utilizes writing to convey narratives and build trust. 

Q: What is your favorite food? 
A: My favorite food is bibimbap! 

Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: In my free time, I like hiking or riding my bike on trails around my house or in the Adirondacks. I love to travel and will never miss an opportunity to see somewhere new! I spent a few months studying and working in Sydney, Australia this past year where I was able to visit different parts of the country and some areas of Asia. 

Q: What’s one thing you want us to know about you?
A: I tried open mic standup comedy once last summer and made some people laugh.
