Megan Baker - President & CEO
Baker Public Relations clients benefit from Megan's celebrity as well as her expertise. Before transitioning to communications executive and entrepreneur, Megan enjoyed a highly-visible, 10-year career in television news, most recently serving as evening anchor on Capital News 9, Time-Warner's Albany-based 24-hour news channel. This helped Megan establish a broad network of media, political and community contacts and has provided her with access to key decision makers and news personalities. Additionally, Megan was instrumental in helping launch Capital News 9 and making it the successful news station it is today.
Today, Megan combines her journalism experience and contacts with a mastery of public relations techniques to provide incomparable client results that consistently exceed expectations. In addition to organizing and running successful client events during her tenure as Assistant Vice President at an Albany public relations firm, Megan was instrumental in integrating video and new media into client-based initiatives and produced dynamic video materials for select clients.
Megan also specializes in developing and leading media training programs for high level CEOs and executives, using her skills honed as a reporter to prepare clients for live events and aggressive media questioning. Megan's accolades include a New York State Emmy Award for her work as host/co-producer of "Exterior Designs," a half-hour special that aired on Capital News 9 and TW3. Megan serves on the board of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Capital Region chapter and the Saratoga Planning Committee for the Seton Health Foundation 2008 Summer Gala. Her community service efforts included volunteering with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and working closely with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
In founding Baker Public Relations, Megan saw an opportunity to bring her various skills and interests under one roof, better allowing clients to benefit from her experience, contacts and know how.
Deanna Fox - Account Executive
Deanna's background is varied and extensive, allowing her to network and draw on her previous experiences to promote Baker PR clients and help them obtain their goals. Earning both dual Bachelors and Masters degrees in History and Political Science from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, Deanna has enjoyed working both in business and in politics for the past several years. While working for a prestigious lobbying firm in Albany, Deanna was able to hone her persuasion and public affairs skills in order to advocate for the passage of important legislation in New York State.
Her work in governmental relations also included fundraising and grant-writing practices (including major fundraising efforts for "Inside Albany," a politically-based public broadcast television show, and ground-level development of a National Pediatric Oncology Charity) which allowed her to understand the nuances of non-profit work and its intricacies. Deanna has held positions of importance for several campaigning efforts, including both the Tom Suozzi and Eliot Spitzer gubernatorial campaigns. Deanna's work in the business sector includes marketing and branding experience for large and small companies. All these qualities are utilized for clientele advancement at Baker PR.
Deanna is also a National award winner and active community volunteer. Her accomplishments include winning the National Presidential Service and Leadership Award in 2006, and becoming an award finalist for her research in Colonial American history for the National Gilder Lehrman History Scholars competition that same year. She is a member of the Schenectady-Saratoga Junior League Society, a prestigious National women's club dedicated to improving communities through service and leadership, and Eleanor's Legacy, a Democratic organization founded in the spirit of Eleanor Roosevelt to promote women's role in politics. She also is a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the National Honor Society for history scholars.
Julie Powers - Asst. Account Executive
Julie comes to Baker Public Relations with experience in speech writing, research, branding, marketing, training and development. Her skill set further demonstrates Baker PR's dedication and commitment to client needs.
Julie graduated in August 2007 from State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a degree in Public Relations/Organizational Communications. She was part of a team to develop a thought-leadership campaign for the American Cancer Society. Additionally, Julie helped non-profit Community Cradle, formally known as The Maternal Infant Network, increase its visibility through re-branding, marketing, public relations and media relations.
Julie is active in the community. She serves on the Public Relations Committee of Women in Development of Northeastern NY (WIDNENY) and is a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Honors Society for Communication Studies.
